A random sorting hat for parties and classrooms

This Hogwarts house sorter is the quickest way to split a group into the four houses for a themed party, a reading club or a classroom points competition. Each house sits on the wheel in its own colors — scarlet for Gryffindor, yellow for Hufflepuff, blue for Ravenclaw and green for Slytherin — and the result card reminds you of the traits the house is known for.

Unlike a personality quiz, the wheel is pure chance, which is exactly what you want when sorting a room fairly. For balanced houses, put each house on the wheel several times (for example eight entries each for 32 guests) and tick Remove winner after each spin; everyone still gets a surprise, but the houses end up equal in size. It is an unofficial fan tool and is not affiliated with the Wizarding World franchise.

How to use the Hogwarts House Sorter

    1. Press Spin the wheel — the four houses are already loaded.
    2. Read your house and its traits on the result card.
    3. For equal-size houses, repeat each house in the entry list and tick Remove winner after each spin.
    4. Use Fullscreen to run a sorting ceremony on a projector.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the Hogwarts house sorter based on my personality?

No — it is a random wheel, like drawing from a hat. Each house has an equal chance on every spin.

How do I sort a class into equal houses?

Enter each house the same number of times (e.g. 6 × Gryffindor, 6 × Hufflepuff…) to match your group size and turn on “Remove winner after each spin”.

Is this an official Harry Potter tool?

No. It is an unofficial fan-made randomizer and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Warner Bros. or Wizarding World.
