About WhimWheel
WhimWheel is a free collection of spin wheels and random generators built to be fast, fair and fun.
Why we built it
Picking a name out of a hat is fun — until the hat is in another room, someone suspects a fix, or you need to do it thirty times in one lesson. WhimWheel started as a single colourful wheel for a classroom and grew into 83 tools: spin wheels, number generators, dice, name generators, party games and decision makers. Every one works instantly in your browser, on any device, with no sign-up.
How we keep it fair
All wheels and generators use crypto.getRandomValues, the cryptographically secure random number generator built into every modern browser, with rejection sampling so no result is ever slightly more likely than another. A wheel’s landing position is decided before the animation starts; the easing only makes it look good. We never weight results, and we don’t have a “rig the wheel” feature.
Your entries stay with you
Names and lists you type are processed in your browser. Saved wheels live in your browser’s local storage, and share links carry the list inside the URL — nothing is uploaded to our servers. Read the privacy policy for details.
How we write our pages
Each tool page explains what it does, how to use it and the facts behind it — like the odds in a 1–100 number generator or what a surname ending means in the last name generator. Lists are curated by hand, checked for accuracy and updated when things change (for example, NBA rosters). If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
